WebNov 7, 2008 · That being said, most s-10's came witht he 7.5" rear end. A few of the 2nd gen trucks got an upgraded 8.5" rear end, and is considerably stronger. They are similar to the 8.5" rear ends that came stock in fullsizes, but I believe the fullsize truck 8.5's were only a 28 spline axle. The s10 8.5 is a 30 spline.
