The degree of fuzziness or hairiness varies among species. Webbee sucks the liquid up through her proboscis and into her honey sac, a small amount of protein becomes added and water is evaporated. The proteins added by the bees are enzymes, which convert sugars in the nectar into different types of sugars. The liquid travels through a chain of bees in this way before it is placed in a cell of honeycomb.
