Apologies if you've tried this already, but if you open the Messages app > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Settings > Chat Settings > Rich Communication Settings > On > Select Default Messaging Type > Automatic, does this help at all? Now I keep receiving notification that there is an update in chat settings in Samsung Messages but when I go there a new message pop up asking me to register the chat service (I didn't have to do that before, RCS worked right away).
