Open Device Manager ( Right Click on Windows Logo then choose Device Manager) 3. Explore Disk Drive we will see the SCSI device with a yellow triangle. 4. WebbAFAIK keeping the drive and enclosure powered shouldn't cause any heat or data loss, so long as the drive isn't actively used and spinning. The cheap enclosure I'm using stops spinning automatically after a couple minutes of inactivity (the drive stays connected however), and starts spinning whenever I access the data on the drive.
